Athens Olympic Stadium Construction

I realize that one of the most difficult (and rather embarassing at this stage) issues with the construction of the stadia for the Athens Olympics 2004 is the termination in the works around the main Olympic Stadium where the athletics events the opening/closing ceremonies will be held.

At this stage the news is that the massive 'Calatrava' arcs as they we call them are nearly finished their move over the Stadium will commence within the next 5 days - according to the project manager of the cosntruction. Their move will be a rather slow one (3 meters per hour) and it will take about 15 days till they are on their final location over the stadium. Unfortunately this is not the end of the construction as an amazing number of glass plates will have to be placed over the stadium suspended by the arcs. This is a proces that will take at least 45 days to finish.

The annoying thing is that I doubt that the works around the Olympic stadium (gardens, benches, trees, fences etc.) will be finished on tiome due to the targeting of the construction on the arcs and the roof of the stadium.
